NEW YORK STATE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH BUREAU OF EARLY INTERVENTION

Families

Early intervention is a family-centered program that works to empower families to meet their children’s individual needs through education, training, and support. Families are essential participants and their input in the monitoring process is gained through parent interviews and written parent surveys.

The primary focus of monitoring activities is to:

  • Improve early intervention results and functional outcomes for all eligible children and their families; and
  • To ensure that each early intervention provider/program meets the requirements under IDEA, Part C with a particular emphasis on those requirements that are closely related to improving early intervention results for eligible children.
